Do Stay-at-Home Parents Need Life Insurance?

Stay-at-home parents may not think that they need life insurance, but what they don’t realize is all of the value that they provide.

For example, stay-at-home parents of young children still have financial value to their family. If one of them passes, their surviving spouse will need to keep working to pay the bills, which means the kids will need a nanny or daycare.

I am one of ten kids. My mom not only raised us, but educated us all the way through high school. My dad was the breadwinner. If my mother were to have passed away when I was a kid, there was no way my father would’ve been able to assume the role she had. All of us went to college, graduated and now have good careers. If my mother wasn't there, we would not have come through nearly as successfully.

Although it’s always the temptation to just cover the partner with a traditional job, the stay-at-home mother or father provides an invaluable service that really can’t be quantified, but as an insurance professional I can begin to try.
